So Sunday was a fun day at the flea market.
The traffic and the crowd was crazy busy.
I had not been to the flea market in quite awhile.
It is held weekly at the NC State Fairgrounds.
They have indoor vendors as well as outdoor vendors.
Many have been there for years peddling their wares.
I just love it!
The fun of the flea market is the hunt, as much as the find.
I always have specific things that I am looking for.
Jadeite is always big on the list, as well as vintage brass.
Brass fell out of favor a long time ago, especially newer brass.
The newer brass tends to be lightweight, and poorly made.
Whereas vintage brass is heavy and the detail is so much more pronounced.
But no matter the age, I still love my cricket boxes. I have posted about them here.
Jadeite is hard to find and has become very collectable, and expensive when you can find it.
Produced between 1945 and 1975, it was made by Anchor Hocking and labeled Fire King.
When I find some I feel like I have struck gold 🙂
It was definitely a good day at the flea market.
I found quite a few things I didn’t know I was looking for.
Being in the process of totally redecorating our den, I found a great side table that will eventually be used in that room.
I also found an old oak frame that used to house a mirror and I plan on making a chalkboard with it for the kitchen.
A nice vintage cast iron floor lamp. The lamp has been spray painted a gold/bronze color so I don’t know if I will keep it that way, or restore it to the original finish.
And my find of the day… a silver plated bowl full of costume jewelry for my granddaughters !
They will have so much fun playing dress up, and having beautiful jewels to wear.
I look forward to seeing their faces when they find all these treasures.
What do you collect?
Not only do I have an affinity for junking, I also have…
