A Tablescape For Fall (and the grandchildren)

I have a confession to make. I have never been a tablescape type person. That’s not to say that I haven’t dressed my table for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Growing up we had very formal table settings for the holidays which has carried through to my adulthood. But I have never been one to decorate the table for different seasons or themes. That was until I had grandchildren. I just love to see their faces light up when they see the table all dressed up for the occasion. So in honor of my precious grandchildren…

The Fall Tablescape

I was so excited when I found this cute tablecloth at Walmart. Certainly the girls would love the owls and foxes. Also found at Walmart were the pumpkin plates and cake stand. The cake stand has a cute squirrel base, while little fox salt and pepper shakes were found at Big Lots. Because gourds can be so funny looking I made sure a nice big funny looking one was placed on the cake stand.

Cream colored plates and the fall leaf goblets were found at the Dollar Store. Making the napkin rings from thin grapevine, you just twist them into a circle three or four times and tie off with floral wire. Very simple to do and cost next to nothing. This time of year is perfect for harvesting grapevine, and it can be used in so many ways. Plaid cloth napkins were found at Kohl’s, and by the time I used the sale and coupons towards them, they came to about $1 each.

The little gourds and mini pumpkins were found at the local produce stand. I thought they would be fun favors to take home for ones own tablescape.  That is if we can keep Bonnie Blue from eating them. She loves to eat pumpkin, whole ones at that. Ha!

The vintage candlesticks and jute placemats were items I already had, but otherwise this tablescape cost under $35. Hey, maybe that will be my new tablescape idea…..Tablescapes for the season, for under $35. What do you think?

Have a wonderful fall season 🙂

Thanks Susan. It’s been fun finding child friendly accents. Thanks so much for visiting and come back soon.

Oh how fun and beautiful! I love your table, it is so welcoming. Even the dog feels like participating!

Thank you so much Valerie. And yes, Bonnie Blue likes to feel included. Unfortunately her participation consists of stealing things from the table. This evening it was the napkins. I think she likes to chew on the grapevine. I had to swap a pumpkin for the grapevine napkin ring lol. Thanks for visiting and please come back again.

My granddaughter’s enjoyment certainly inspires some of my table settings, too. I love that cute tablecloth! I saw one at WM earlier and didn’t get it – I bet they are gone now, but it surely is darling on your table. My budget and storage space are both limited, so I think your “under $35” idea is a good one. Happy Fall!

Thank you Joy. I am going to do my best to see if I can do the tablescapes for $35 or under. We will see how it goes 🙂 I was at Walmart last week and they still had tons of these tablecloths still on the shelves. Thank you for visiting and please come back soon. Happy Fall to you too.
